How to use our comment export tools?
CommentGuard offers 2 comment export tools:
- A feature in your Dashboard that allows to export comments from your Inbox, Archive or Bin.
- An Exporter tool that allows to enter a FB or IG post or ad URL to extract its comments.
In this article, we explain how to use both tools.
Export feature in the dashboard
In your Dashboard you'll find the Export icon at the top of the comments list in each of the tabs: Inbox, Archive and Bin.
When clicked, it will allow you to export all comments within your current tab and/or filter.
You can choose to download the file directly to your device or receive a link to download it via email.
Note: you have to generate separate exports for each of the tabs: Inbox, Archive and Bin.
Exporter tool for specific posts or ads
The Exporter tool (on our Tools page) where you can enter a post or ad URL to extract its comments.
Here's how to use it:
- Select one of your pages (make sure to select the correct one)
- Enter a URL of your post or ad (make sure to use the URL format shown below)
- Check the box to include nested comments (unchecked it's just top-level)
- After clicking Export you'll receive a link to download your export file
URL formats for Facebook and Instagram posts or ads
For organic content on Facebook or Instagram here's how to get the correct URL.
Facebook organic post
On desktop: navigate to the post, hover over the date and right-click > copy link address.
On mobile: navigate to the post, click Share icon and then Copy link
Instagram organic post
On mobile: navigate to the post, click the Share icon and then Copy link.
On desktop: navigate to the post, click on the post, copy the URL from your browser.
Facebook and Instagram ads
In Ads Manager navigate to the ad and click the Preview icon.
Click on the dropdown menu and select Facebook Post with Comments or Instagram Post with Comments to open the preview on either platform.
Facebook: copy the URL from your browser
Instagram: it's a bit different, because copying the URL from your browser will not get the right URL.
To get the right URL, scroll to any of the comments on the Instagram, hover over the time it was posted and right-click > Copy URL.
