How to deal with payment delays as an Indian customer?

If you’re an Indian customer, your bank may delay subscription payments because of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations. These rules require banks to send you a notification before processing recurring charges, which can sometimes delay payments by 24–48 hours.

What happens if my payment is delayed?

Normally, CommentGuard automatically locks accounts when a payment fails on the billing date. However, because of the RBI delay, some Indian customers might see their account locked even though their bank eventually processes the charge successfully.

What is the solution?

We offer Indian customers an optional 72-hour grace period. With this enabled, CommentGuard will wait up to three extra days after your billing date before locking your account. This ensures that delayed payments from your bank have enough time to clear.

Will I still get failed payment emails?

Since our payment processor Stripe handles billing, you may still receive emails about failed payment attempts during this period. Don’t worry — as long as the 72-hour grace period is enabled, your CommentGuard account will not be locked while Stripe continues retrying the charge.

How do I enable this?

If you’re an Indian customer and want this feature enabled for your account:

  1. Reach out to our support team via support@commentguard.io
  2. Request the “72-hour payment grace period for Indian customers” option.
  3. Our team will update your account profile so the grace period applies automatically every month.

Note that our support team will check your billing address and card address, these should be both in India to apply for this grace period.
