Does it also work for Instagram comments?

CommentGuard supports comments on Facebook and Instagram posts & ads.

However, there are limitations when it comes to Instagram comments because the Instagram API doesn't support all the same actions as Facebook's API.

The specific limitations are:

  • To connect an Instagram Business Account to CommentGuard, it needs to be linked to a Facebook account via Business Manager. That's because some of the required permissions CommentGuard needs to function are shared between Facebook and Instagram.
  • When you run ads with the Instagram placement from a Facebook page (so without selecting a specific Instagram Business Account to run the ads from in Ads Manager). In this case the ads are run from what is called a PBIA (Page-Backed Instagram Account) and comments received on these PBIA ads will not be imported into CommentGuard or any other 3rd-party social media platform. They will not even show up inside Meta's own social inbox.
  • You can't like Instagram comments from inside CommentGuard, because the Instagram API doesn't support this action yet. You'll have to go to Instagram to be able to do this.
  • You can't block users that posted Instagram comments from inside CommentGuard, because the Instagram API does't support this action yet. You'll have to go to Instagram to be able to do this.
  • You can't reply with a private message to Instagram comments, because we have not implemented this feature yet. It's possible and on our roadmap to implement this into CommentGuard.
